Hello

It sound like you are getting memory parity errors while the OS is trying to load into memory. I would suggest testing with 1 DIMM at a time to find out which stick of memory is causing the problems.

Thanks

Ive pulled all and restarted each time still receiving the same error but now it is saying that my bootmgr is missing which I can not load because its inside the server 2003 cd & server 2008 cd. I loaded the cd to a USB drive hoping maybe itd load that way with no luck. Do you have advice on how to get my bootmgr file back in the bios ?

I forgot to address your question about the media. As in the cd being good. I just installed an HP server in an auto collision business without any issues with this software. I am questioning this because I have a feeling you mean something else.

DIMM Testing I pulled all 4 and laid them out in order. Installed each into DIMM 1A and started. ( server went wild when I put it in B slot), They all registered the same PCI parity error, Only difference is that with two I received another parity error immediately after pressing enter. The other two it gave me the option to hit f1 to try and boot, f2 to run setup. I pressed enter in both instances and was prompted to press any key for cd/dvd. press key and windows loaded once, said bootmgr another other two times it just went to load windows but never pulled up the loading screen just idled there. When it does load with all 4 in it gets to about the third period in windows is loading files... if that means anything as to where windows would be currently in its process.

Thank you, YOUR THE MAN !

The boot manager is loaded to the hard drive. If you are getting that message then it is likely trying to boot from the HDD. Since you are reinstalling the OS you should not worry about the boot manager as a new one will be created during the install.

Did you receive the same parity errors with when testing each DIMM?
Are you getting to the screen where it asks you to press a key to boot to the CD/DVD?
Have you tested booting to different media to make sure it isn't bad media?

Okay, so now we need to find out which item was causing the issues.

What is plugged into SATA_0 on the system board?
Which PERC do you have?
What else did you disconnect(PCI and external devices)?

I'm starting to suspect that the memory controller on the system board is failing. I would recommend going with minimum to POST. You have already tested all 4 DIMMs and received the same errors with each so I would leave them alone. Remove any add-on PCI cards or external devices except keyboard and monitor. Also, remove the PERC and disconnect the hard drives from the backplane. Test booting to the CD/DVD with that minimal configuration.

Yes something in there is broken or not working properly. It loaded windows, Went to install on to a drive still connected through sata0 232gb HDD. It came up with an error though. Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. I'm not exactly sure what that means or is it because all the unhooked items here.

Start putting the devices back in 1 at a time until the error returns. That will allow you to determine which device is causing the problem.

PERC 5i ? It doesn't say on card

You should get a prompt to press CTL A, CTL M, or CTL R during POST to enter the RAID controller BIOS. It will list which RAID controller you have in there.

SATA_0 - 232 GB HDD, spare harddrive from old xp computer.

PERC 5i ? It doesn't say on card

I pulled out a remote access card, a card I'm not quite sure about also, two old dial up ports.

I believe it is the PERC5i, I left it disconnected along with the remote access card. I successfully loaded windows server 2003 all the way to desktop setup. I then unplugged that sata 0 232 HDD. Put the PERC5i back in, hooked up the sas cord to the 4 250GB  HDD's. I did not receive another parity error. This time I put in windows server 2008 and started server. 2008 loaded all the way to install menu. I began the install but came to menu prompting a device driver download. This is where I am currently stuck. There is no available driver to download. I loaded in the old recovery cd and browsed in manually with no luck also. Everything else inside server worked fine until the PERC5i was inserted back in. Any advice as to which driver I should be searching the internet for ? It does have number on the back but they seem irrelevant because they do not show in the crtl r menu

Any advice as to which driver I should be searching the internet for ?

This is the driver for the PERC 5/6:

x86 - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/DriverDetails?driverId=CW1N9
x64 - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/DriverDetails?driverId=M4F88

Download the hard drive version and run the executable. It is a compressed self-extracting executable, so you need to extract it out before putting it on a thumb drive. After you extract the files out put them on a thumb/USB drive and direct it to that location to search for the driver.

Well, I've got that on a thumb drive and ready to go. The problem now is that I am receiving an error from windows boot manager error code:0x8007001

Then I have the option to run setup when I restarted after that, it boots cd without that errom. I go to install, pushes me to the partition menu. I have three.

Disk0- Partition 1 around 90mb says system OEM

Disk0- Partition 2  232GB Primary

Disk1- Partition 1 978BG Primary

It loaded the 232 as logical one time. I choose it and received the windows can not install required fields.  Not sure if its me or my current raid config or the fact I have an extra drive inside the server. When I received it there was a loose SATA cable, slot under drive was empty with black piece missing and the manual I brought home had a separate manual for it. I'm pretty sure it had a VD 1000 external they were running windows s2003 through. Not sure if any of that could be causing the conflict. I can pull the 232 in one second so just let me know

Thanks again, I appreciate your support more then you know. I'm excited to get it running.

Delete all of them and let the installer create new ones. If you still get errors then go into the controller BIOS and delete and recreate the RAID array.

Thank you, I had hit repair system and it gave me an option to load the driver but was unsuccessful. I've now gone back, cleared the config, initializing the new raid. It'll take an hour or so. I'll let ya know soon enough. Appreciate it,
