Need help with configuration please!!

I'm wanting to configure a R310 with raid 1 (2X500Gb hotplug 7.2k rpm SATA) with H200 controller.  However, I've read in this forum that the combination of H200 and SATA drives is really slow in initializing and re-building?? Couldn;t tell if the performance issue is realated to H200 controller or SATA drives, or both.

is anyone experience with a combination of H200 with SAS or perhaps, a conbination of H300/H700 with SATA drives.  I'm assuming that a combination of H300/H700 with SAS would not be a problem.

Thanks

I think the H200 disables disk cache for safety reasons, but because the controller itself doesn't have (battery backed) cache, you effectively run the drives without cache, which makes the 7200rpm drives that much slower still.

If performance is a concern, I'd get a PERC6i or PERC H700 (both would come with a battery allowing write cache to be enabled on the controller).
