PERC 3\di RAID Controller Error

Hi all;

Had a single HD failure on my RAID 5 setup.  Saw the amber error light on front display.  I shut it down and replaced the failed drive, powered it back up.  Accepted the "recognized" drive during boot up, logged in and let if rebuild.  Everything within the GUI Dell Open Array application shows everything is fine with the array, no windows event logs either.

Problem is, the amber light on the front of the server still shows drive missing.  I know all drives are powered and all disk space is accounted for.

I did not boot into the Perc hardware utility on boot up and go into the container(s) or intitialize any drives.  Any ideas as to why the controller is still showing "missing" drive?

Thanks in advance. Steve

You need to clear the hardware logs.

Unfortunately there are not any logs or settings to clear logs when booting into the Perc Utility at boot.  You're probably thinking the logs with the GUI Dell array manager.

It's helpful to me, Thanks for your instruction!

No, he was talking about the hardware/ESM logs, as it is the ESM that tells the LCD display to change to amber and write the error message on the screen.  These are viewable (and clearable) through the OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) software.  OMSA has replaced Array Manager for RAID management as well.

Alternatively, you can clear it with DSET, and on some systems, from the DRAC interface.
