No client OS is supported on any Dell server.  That doesn't mean it won't work - simply that Dell will not provide drivers, nor will they attempt to solve any issues you encounter in doing so - or afterwards.

To install Windows 8, you will need to be using the 64-bit version, and you will need to try the Server 2008R2 driver:

ftp.dell.com/.../LSI-LOGIC_MULTI-DEVICE_A00_R227150.exe

Download and run to extract the contents first, then put them on floppy, CD, or USB.

If you need to install the 32-bit version, then you can try the 2008x86 driver, but the further you get from a supported OS, the less likely you will be successful.

LSI never supported Windows beyond Server 2003/XP, so you won't find any help from them ... drivers beyond 2003 were supplied only by Dell.

Yes,  the 64 bit driver worked great.  Thanks x1000.

I did still struggle with disk partitioning,  boot drive configurations,  boot-loader configuration (bcd  v. grub),  Flash-drive usage,  linux rescue...... but ultimately;  I got Windows 8 Pro installed, with my Red Hat dual booting just fine.  Using Grub installed from RH as the boot-loader on the first disk of a RAID 5 array configuration, w/Windows installed on a separate logical disk configured as RAID 0.    Now successfully booting to RH or Windows as-needed.     Thanks again.
