perc 6/ir expand array
I have a poweredge 2900 with a perc 6/ir. Right now there are two hdd in raid 1. What I would like to do is add two more hdds and convert it to 0+1 or 5. Is this possible or would I have to start over and build a new array?

Do you have a PERC 6/i or a SAS 6/iR (there is no PERC 6/iR) ... it makes a difference in what you can do.
Assuming you have a PERC 6/i, you CAN convert it to a RAID 5 or 6 by adding disks to the system and performing a 'reconfigure'. No PERC supports migration to or from a 'nested' RAID level (10/50/60). This is done in the OpenManage software. What OS are you running?
If you have a SAS 6/iR, not only can you NOT reconfigure, but you also cannot do a RAID 5 or 6 at all - only RAID 0/1.

Yes, the SAS 6/iR can only do RAID 0, RAID 1, and non-RAID (when left unconfigured).

Yes it is an SAS 6/ir. So I understand, I can only do raid 0 or raid 1?
