PERC H710P Mini - RAID Question
Hi mates!
We've bought an used DELL R620 with a PERC H710P Mini Integrated 1GB. The system was shipped with 8 DELL SAS drives. I've tried to build a RAID6 with all 8 drives in OMSA 8.2 (VMware integration) but without success. In advanced mode I always got the error message that the count does not match and in simple mode the software only gave me the first 4 drives and suggested the other 4 as hot spares. To get the server up running I decided to build a RAID60 but I still prefer the RAID6 option with all 8 drives.
So whats the reason? Is it a limitation of the controller itself or maybe a OMSA VMware integration issue and it's worth to try to build a RAID6 from within the controller menu?

Probably a bug in the integration. How large are the drives?
The H710 can easily handle 8 drives in a RAID 6.

They're all 146GB hard disk drives. Anyway, I found the Perc overview here. There are two 710P mini adapters listet (mono/blade). They only differ in max. drive support (32/4). But there is no integrated listet. Anyway, my Perc definitely recoqnizes all 8 drives so I assume I have the mono "edition".
Btw. I'm not sure about the meaning of max drive support in the overview. For example the 710 mini (without P!) has 1 internal connector and is capable of max 4 drives but among other it supports RAID 50/60... with only 4 drives?
