Power Edge 2600 Memory issue
Hi everyone, I hope you can help me out.
I have a PE 2600, that originally shipped with 512mb ram. I am trying to upgrade it to 4gb. I have 2 pairs of Kingston KTD-PE2650/2g 2GB ram kits. I can install a single pair and the Server boots ok. if i install both pairs, the server will not Post. I have swapped out each pair and the server will boot fine on each pair, so I know the memory is good. When I installed the memory, i used Banks 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b.
Has anyone else had this problem or do I have a faulty motherboard?

Hi psb4me,
From what i can gather the server does not support 4Gb
Just the following configurations:
2 GB = 512 MB 512 MB 512 MB 512 MB
2 GB = 1 GB 1 GB
3 GB = 1 GB 1 GB 512 MB 512 MB
6 GB = 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB

What is your BIOS at? Should be at least A10, but I would recommend the latest A14 for full memory support - system BIOS originally supported only 6GB max.
