Poweredge 2600 RAID Memory Upgrade

My pe2600 has the normal 128MB for the RAID. Can this memory be upgraded with a 256MB or 512MB in an attempt to improve RAID performance?

The raid controller only supports 128MB (Dell never offered/sold it with more, and LSI didn't either from what I know).
