PowerEdge 2950 Windows 2003 Raid Driver Controller Disk Problems...
I'm doing a fresh install of Windows 2003 Server on a 2950 with a Perc5i SATA Controller.
When I start installing Win2003 I press F6 to install the Perc5i SATA driver.
The driver disk was created from BR136024 FloppyPack from Dell. This program creates
the disk with the Perc5i 2003 x86 drivers.
When Win2003 starts it grabs the driver off the USB Floppy disk.
I create the partition to install Win2003 Server on in the Array.
The format completes.
Win2003 starts again, but then asks me to stick in the disk called:
Dell Perc5 Raid Controller Driver
Press ENTER when ready.
I press ENTER, press enter, press enter and it never goes to the USB floppy again to fetch the
drivers.
What I dont understand is when Win2003 first loads and I press F6 to install the Perc5 drivers
it works, it lets me format, and I see the array.
But, when it tries to start installing itself, it bombs out at this spot.
Can anyone help and tell me what the work-around is?
Thanks a bunch!
Dave.

in the bios under boot options move the floppy drive to the top and uncheck it ...... the reason it doesnt see it on the second time arround is because of the way it initialized the USB port.
a second option is to go to www.nliteos.com and download the nlite utility and slipstream the driver into an image of the OS and burn that to cd... then you dont have to worry about the floppy anymore
