PowerEdge R610
Hi all, I spend over 3-4 hours troubleshooting this server and is at the end of my road. I don’t know how the RAID 1 and 5 on this PowerEdge got messed up. I replaced a dead drive that was part of RAID 5 and after waiting about two hours, I did not see any change, I pulled out and put it in again. That could be the problem that I did not wait long enough for the RAID to complete its configuration. RAID 1 diskO is now part is RAID O and and don’t see disk1. RAID 5 disk2,disk3,disk4, and disk5 are part of RAID 1. It is messed up.
I want to re-do the RAID configuration but it is hanging at this stage forever. See attachment. I left it sitting in the “waiting for controller enumeration” today because I don’t know how long it will take. Server Manager does not seem to have the option to change RAID. Can you please suggest what else can I do? What can I do to get to the RAID set up, delete the existing and recreate the virtual drives?

Just an FYI, RAID 5 have not data but there is plan on the future. Exist RAID 1 is a backup of a server and can be spin up fairly quickly, hence why I just want to re-so the RAID again.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.
Are you okay with risking all the data? Then I can tell you can plug out all the disks and try the steps again.

Yes I can bear the lost of the data.
So, just pull all the drives out and boot in Unify Configurator again ?

It did not work even though I pulled all the drives out and booted into the server configurator console to delete it. I think it was trial and error afterward this. I pushed all the drives in, booted into the Windows desktop, logged into Server Admin, and attempted to delete the Raid which the Windows was set up on. Eventually, it froze and I hard restarted into Server configurator. It lets me finally delete and recreate the raid 1 virtual disk but it won’t let me create the raid 5 using the four disks I have in. It sees the drives while booting up, so it’s there. What’s going on? So forget about this for now, all I want to do is just install Windows OS but it is not seeing the DVD or Usb drives. I have gone into BIOS and it’s showing boot sequence 1. Sata optical drive, virtual drive and Nic embedded card, so it should not be an issue. Why can’t it boot from the dvd drive when I restart ?

Hello, could you check if your OS is in the list?
https://dell.to/46UPkZ3
If so, you may need to check if the OS is not broken.
Also what PERC do you use?

Yes it is on the list, it is Windows 2012r2. The DVD with the OS works because I used it to install Windows OS on another server and it worked.
PERC is SAS 6 i/R (SAS-RAID_Firmware_C1NFP_WN32_00.25.47.00.06.22.03.00_A04.EXE)

It sees all the drives while going through the boot up!
No we don’t have enterprise license.
I do see iDrac ip, how do I “boot in” or access IDRAC by IP. Please go slow on this part as I have never done it this way before.

Oh I am making headwave here. It is seeing windows 2008 R2 in Unifies Configurator. I will install it, boot it up and then run 2012 r2 from there. Thank you all.
