Simon Perkins,

The server and controller both support 1TB drives so that shouldn't be the issue. Is the BIOS and controller up to date on driver and firmware?  If you would, could you also provide us with the hard drives specs for comparison? Just so we can verify the hard drive is compatible. The drives we provide would be the Seagate Moose part number G377T, and the Western Digital J317F. Both being SATA-ES 7.2k drives.

Let me know what you see.

The Barracuda is a desktop drive and unsuitable for use on hardware RAID controllers.  Not that they definitely don't work, but they are subject to a number of issues.  Incompatible drives are likely the reason.  Updating the controller and drive firmware "may" help, but if not, then you'll either need to use them in non-RAID (you could configure RAID in the OS) or get compatible drives.
