Problem installing MS Windows server 2012 R2 - Dell VRTX

I'm having trouble installing Windows Server 2012 R2 on a Dell VRTX with two M620 nodes.
RAID Controller H710P and a shared SPERC8 controller.

RAID 1 is configured and a virtual disk is made.

When entering the lifecycle controller for Node 1 > OS deployment > i choose MS Windows Server 2012 R2 > manual install.

After reboot i boot from the virtual media > mapped drive to the ISO of Windows Server 2012 R2.
After loading and selecting the right language i get the message to load a driver to install.

I browsed to the OEMDRV (C:) > $WinPEDriver$ > 0P5XV > w folder

I see three possible drivers to install (Dell Perc Raid Virtual device - PERC H710P Mini - Shared Perc 8).
When i try to install the drivers i get the message after a couple of seconds :

'No new devices drivers are found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK'.

I tried the new Windows Server 2012 R2 drivers from this website:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-m620p/drivers

Choosing MS Windows Server 2012 R2/SP > SAS RAID > Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 64 Bit Driver for Dell PERC H310/H710/H710P/H810/SPERC8 Controllers

Downloaded the executable and extracted the execuatable. Placed the content on a USB stick and mapped the drive with the virtual media button in the console of the M620 node.

I browsed to the removable disk (subdirectory 'payload') on the node and i get again three drivers to install.

(Dell Perc Raid Virtual device - PERC H710P Mini - Shared Perc 8).
When i try to install i get the message after a couple of seconds :

'No new devices drivers are found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK'.

Installing Windows Server 2012 goes without any problem.
Installing Windows Server 2012 R2 gives me this problem.

I think it is driver related but i don't where to get the right driver.

Anybody with any suggestions?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Steven

Steven.Michiels,

When you get to the listed drivers, are you highlighting the H710p Mini and then clicking Next, or just hitting Next without highlighting that specific controller? Also, are you local to the server or trying to install remotely?

Let me know.

Yes i highlited all three drivers and clicked Next.

Everytime i got the same error.'No new devices drivers are found .... '

I'm local to the server.

Sorry for the delay Steven.Michiels.

Let me confirm something with you. Have you configured a Virtual Disk on the H710 raid controller already? If not then it won't allow it to continue from there as it doesn't see a location to install. Also, the drivers for the H710 are native to the 2012 R2 media, so it shouldn't need one added during the install. The Perc 8 isn't bootable, so the driver for that will need to be installed after the OS is installed.

Let me know.

Hi Chris,

Yes i have configured a Virtual Disk on the H710 Raid controller.
See:

I downloaded Windows Server 2012 R2 from the volume licensing center from Microsoft and use the ISO to connect as a virtual media. So i don't use a physical DVD to install but i guess that can't be the problem?

ps. i don't have any problems installing Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8.1 , only with the R2 version i get this problem.

Problem is resolved.
Turned out the ISO of Windows server 2012 R2 i downloaded from Microsoft VLSC wasn't complete.
The ISO was 2,5 GB. I downloaded the ISO today and now it was 4,4 GB.

Now installing Windows server 2012 R2 goes without any problem.

Thanks for the support Chris.
