Raid 1 reconstruction, which data prevails?
Dear, good afternoon!
I recently had a problem with a client who had Windows Server corrupted. As a temporary solution, I put one of the HDs that was in RAID1 and with the company's data, on any desktop to make the data available to users. I'm working on formatting the server and reinstalling the operating system and I have the following question:
The customer data HDD is a 2TB Dell HDD and was in RAID1. I installed one of the hard drives containing the data on a desktop for users to get work done. After formatting the server, I will return it to the production environment. When inserting the HD that today is in a conventional desktop on the server, will the RAID be redone automatically? Which data will prevail? From the HD that is on the conventional desktop or from the HD that is on the server?
The server in question is a PowerEdge T130 and the RAID controller is a PERC H330.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. In my opinion this is not possible at all, something I couldn't think of. Sorry I can't be of help this time but we can wait to see what other community users think.

So at this point if both of them have been running independently they will likely be considered separate RAID 1 arrays.
So on the newly reinstalled server is it running a fresh raid array?
I can't say for certain but I'd imagine if you put that data drive back into the newly redone server you will likely see it behave as if there are two separate raid 1s. Again I can't say for certain but that's what I would expect to happen.
