Remington850,

With an 8th generation controller you can't update it's firmware while the array is degraded. What I would like to confirm first is if you are positive that all the drives were online and operational prior to the restart? Are you sure that one of the drives wasn't failed prior to restarting? If there wasn't a drive offline prior to the reboot, then what we can do is Force Online 2 out of the 3 drives. Once they are online then boot up and verify the OS and data are retrievable, if so then rebuild the last drive into the array.

Now if you are unsure if all the drives were online, then you can run a Dset report on the server to see if we can verify failure order.

Let me know what you see.

I will send you an email that you can use to send the Dset to me on, the dset will include details on the server you may not want public.

Chris,

I can not confirm that one of the drives was not down before the reboot.  I am running the Dset and will post the results when completed.

Reviewed the dset and it does appear that all 3 drives failed at the same moment, as seen below.

I would force drive 4 and 3 online, then confirm the data is intact, then start a rebuild on 2.

Is there an article on how that should be done?

Go to the Raid Controller BIOS, then under the Physical Disk options for the specific drive, select FORCE ONLINE. After forcing the 2 online as I had discussed, then go ahead and boot to the OS. If everything is fine then try removing and reinserting the last drive to initiate a rebuild.

Forced drive 3 qnd 4 online, booted into OS and pulled and re-seated drive 2.  The array is rebuilding.

Great to hear. Let me know when the drive finishes rebuild. Then we can look at getting it up to date.

The logical drive rebuilt but does not show in the OS.

Do you have OpenManage installed? If so is it current?

You will only see the Virtual Disk within the OS, not the Physical disks,in order to see them you would need OMSA.

All drives up and functioning, data recovered, new servers ordered.  Thank you for the help!
