RAID Configuration with LifeCycle Controller
We just bought 3 Dell EMC PowerEdge R550 servers with PERC H345 Controller. Every server is equipped with 4 x 960GB SSD vSAS 2.5in hard drives. All firmware are updated including BIOS.
Problem:
I am able to configure RAID 10 from BIOS and iDRAC but when I try to configure RAID from LifeCycle Controller then HDDs are not shown for selection. All 3 servers are behaving in the same manner. Our local vendor says, if you are able to configure with BIOS or iDRAC then this is enough. But, I believe there is some configuration related or RAID Controller issue and all options to create RAID should work.
Anyone, please guide me.

Hello Ibadat,
Thank you for choosing Dell.
Usually it is possible to configure RAID using Lifecycle Controller too. I can suggest that you cannot create VD in Lifecycle Controller, because LC doesn't support Virtual Disk creation when the controller is in eHBA mode.

Enhanced HBA mode (eHBA mode) is a new operating mode available with H740P, H745, and H745P MX cards. eHBA provides the following features:
Create virtual disks with RAID level 0, 1, or 10.
Present Non-RAID disks to the host.
Configure a default cache policy for virtual disks. The starting default is write-back with read ahead.
Configure virtual disks and Non-RAID disks as valid boot devices.
Automatically convert all unconfigured disks to Non-RAID:
More information about eHBA mode and how to check it you can find here:

Please let me know if you have any questions,
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.
As I earlier mentioned that we are using PERC H345 Controller and I didn't find any option related to eHBA mode. .

Hi from what we see, it's on RAID so it looks good. Did you try though Lifecycle controller yet?

Yes, we are able to configure the RAID with BIOS and iDRAP but can't do this from LifeCycle Controller.

Hi @Ibadat,
Would you be able to confirm the firmware level of the server's BIOS, iDRAC/LifeCycle and HBA? Are they up to date?
