Raid Error
Help please. I'm getting the following error on my dell poweredge 2600;
This Logical Drive is in Background Initialization state. it cannot be selected for desired operation. press and key to continue.
any idea whats going on there and if its really doing a background check how long will it take???????

While doing background initialization a number of functions can not be initiated until it completes. How long? with multiple variables in play (drive type,array size,number of arrays,raid type,controller model,firmware revision), and you have supplied none, it could take a couple hours to multiple days. Even with knowing the variables, and if someone has a close server setup, you will only get an approximation. Figure 2-4 hours generally, on a raid below 200Gig
