RAID0 on Linux question
Hello,
I have a faulty two-disk RAID0 setup on a Linux host where one of the drives has a number of "Other" errors (smartctl tells me it's been trying to reshuffle blocks for a while).
It nominally contains data that I can lose, but of course, I would like to rescue what I can. So far I have been able to force the drive online (MegaCli64 -PDOnline -PhysDrv [8:5] -aALL), reboot, mount the file system RO and attempt some more recovery.
However, waiting for the PowerEdge 2950 to reboot does take a while. Does anyone know if there are any ways of forcing the drive online without rebooting?
(If I do not reboot, the system complains about the fs.)
Thanks,
Troy

Hello DellTroy,
If you have OpenManage Server Administrator you can use omconfig command:
Omconfig Online Physical Disk
https://dell.to/3N6MDfN
It may require a reboot to do the online. It has been some time since I've seen the PE2950.
You could also Online a drive in the controller BIOS.
You may have the best option going, getting it online and copying what you can while it is still up.

Hello Charles,
Thanks; yep. I've been using MegaCLI and not omconfig but I suspect it has the same effect. :)
Wouldn't mind anyone with Linux experience piping up regarding ways around needing to reboot, though -- if there is one.
Thanks for your quick reply!
