RemoteOffice VMware server

I have just received a new PowerEdge R630, with 8 x 300 GB physical disks.

The system came pre-configured with 2 Virtual Disks, both RAID-5, Size = 1843 GB and 108 GB.

The Controller is a PERC H730 Mini

VMware is on SD Card For IDSDM

The server is to be used for a RemoteOffice VM server with local storage.

Why is it configured with 2 Virtual Disks, instate of just one?

Is there a size limit I have overlooked.

Hello

Yes, there is a 2TB size limit when booting from BIOS firmware interfaces. The available space on that array would be ~2.1TB, so it looks like it was sliced to avoid the 2TB limit. If you are not going to be using it for a boot drive or if you are going to be using UEFI boot mode then you can delete and recreate using all of the space in a single virtual disk.

Thanks
