Replace PERC2 on PE6300
I have a PowerEdge 6300 with PERC 2 controller and I am unable to recondition the battery. I have already updated my Perc drivers and firmware and have the newest FAST utility....still no luck. I keep getting the message "Recondition failed, see system event log." After talking with another IT person here on campus it looks like I may just need to replace my controller.
What controller do I need to order to replace my current one? I have heard talk there is no direct replacement and if I upgrade to another I am worried I will have to do an offline backup, create new logical drives, & reinstall the OS! Help!!
Thanks,
CJ

The Perc 2/qc sometimes will not recondition the battery if the controller is too hot. There is a cooling fan available if you suspect this to be the problem, part number 5F933.
If the controller is truly failed, it may still be available as refurbished from spare parts, part number 4351P.
Unfortunately, if this model is not available and you must switch models, it will be necessary to completely rebuild the server and restore the data from backup. The Perc 2/sc (part number 7825P and 3218C, memory) and Perc 2/dc ( 879CT and 98GNJ, memory) were validated on the PowerEdge 6300. These are available refurbished from spare parts.
The Perc 4/dc may work on the PowerEdge 6300 and can be purchased as new, part number 341-0320)
Dell spare parts can be reached by phone at 1-800-357-3355.
