Replace RAID1 disks on PERC 4e/Si
Hello,
I want to upgrade my Poweredge 1850 with additional diskspace. It's currently equipped with 2 disks in a RAID1 configuration. Is the following possible?
- Remove disk 1
- Insert new disk (larger one)
- let it rebuild
- remove disk 2
- insert new disk (larger one)
- let it rebuild
Is this possible or won't I be able to use the extra space the new disks have? (is Volume manager a option?).
Thanks for your support.
Kind regards,
Remco

Hi Remco,
Yes.
You can do this, but you will not see the additional space. you would have to create a second array to use the unused space, and I highly discourage this, due to maintance time problems that make having to rebuild the server much more likely. Only two drives are available at a time in this server so the other work around I posted on a previous thread will not work.
I would say you'll need to rebuild the server to set it up right.
