Hello

I'm not sure about is the exact steps to ensure that my RAID and disk setup remains intact after the upgrade process.

The RAID configuration is stored in the memory of the RAID controller and is written within the metadata of each drive in the array. When you install a new controller it will not have any information on the array, but it should detect the array data on the drives. It should list the array as a "Foreign Configuration" because the configuration is foreign to the controller. You will have the option to import or clear the configuration. If you import the configuration it will copy the array data from the drives to the controller and the array should come online. If you clear the configuration then the controller will delete the tags off of the drives and they will go into a ready state.

The current controller suffers from an intermittent battery failure (happens about 1-2 times a year, the logs display a PERC battery failure and then the controller resolves to the normal state after 1 minute.

Have you checked the controller logs to see if this "failure" happens during battery learn cycles? We decreased the number of false errors reported by our PERCs during battery learn cycles via firmware updates. It is uncommon for such errors to occur with newer PERCs running the latest firmware.

Thanks

Thanks Dan,

How do I check the controller logs? I can't see specific logs for the controller in the DRAC window.

The firmware version is 1.57.57

cheers
