scalable disk system 100

I have inherited a sds 100. I do not wish to deploy this in a cluster. Can the built in Adaptec 78xx controller address this storage unit. I have cabled it up and the adaptec bios recognizes the drives at startup. However, when Windows 2000 Server loads it does not see the drives. It also says it needs a driver for the 8uws SCSI processor device. How do I get this unit to work under windows 2000?
