SCSI ID not responding?
Should I be concerned? Should I put this machine into production?
I have a 2850 with PERC 4e/Di and 4-72gb Hotswap drives. Configured them as 2 Logical drives, RAID 1.
Successfully loaded MS SBS 2008 and it boots fine, EXCEPT:
Sometimes when I reboot, I get the following error:
Following SCSI ID's are not responding
Channel-0:0,1,2,3
2 Logical Drive(s) found on the host adapter
0 Physical Drive(s) found on the host adapter
2 Logical Drives handled by BIOS
0 Physical drives handled by BIOS
If I simply hit the system continues and boots fine.
Another concern is when I formatted the second (logical) drive, it took a very long time. But it's now fine.
Should I be concerned? Can I put this machine into production?
Thanks in Advance
Rob

Thanks for the reply.
I will update as soon as possible, and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks again

I would be concerned. If they stop responding while the server is running, then your system will crash. It may be a problem simply with spinning up the drives taking too long, but I would recommend updating system BIOS, ESM, and RAID firmware, then updating the firmware on the hard drives. This will make sure that all hardware is functioning the best it knows how. Once this is done, then boot to the 32-bit diagnostics and test your drives to make sure there isn't a bad one(s).
If firmware is up to date and they pass diags, then you may have a cable or backplane problem. Reseat all SCSI cable connections (and power connection to backplane) and make sure they are seated completely and cleanly.
