Simple SCSI question
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Poweredge 2500. The server has a single Ultra3 18Gig drive installed. The drive has been partitioned in two. The problem is that the drive is no longer large enough and we would like to either put another drive in or preferably replace the drive with a larger primary drive. My questions are:
1 can I install any Ultra 3 SCSI hard drive up to 73 GIG in bay two and use that drive?
2 or preferably image the existing drive to a 73 GIG and replace that drive with any Ultra 3 drive or would you recommend a drive to me.
Sorry about the questions but I'm not a SCSI man at all. I work on mostly IBM Servers with EIDE and SATA drives. The last time I looked at a SCSI was sometime back in the 90's.
If the system was IDE based I would simply add another drive to the system. But my lack of understanding will lead to a disaster unless I get advise.
Thanks for your help,
Steff

Hi Steff,
If you are not using a RAID controller you can treat this just like you had an IDE, just add a drive and use disk management to partition and format it.
