Symmpi and Disk Errors
At startup I get errors:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: symmpi
Event Category: None
Event ID: 15
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\symmpi1, is not ready for access yet.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Disk
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11
Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0
The system details are:
OS Name Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Version 5.2.3790 Build 3790
System Manufacturer Dell Computer Corporation
System Model PowerEdge 1600SC
BIOS Version/Date Dell Computer Corporation A09, 10/8/2003
SMBIOS Version 2.3, Service tag DNPBG31, LSI Logic PCI-X Ultra320 SCSI Host Adapter
Concern/Qestion
The Symmpi driver installed is1.08.18.00 dated 03/25/03 and the latest driver on the LSILogic website is 1.09.06 dated 05/23/03, Will upgrading the driver resolve the starup error or is there another fix? Other than the sartup errors in the event viewer the system runs OK.

Hi,
These errors probably will not be resolved by changing to the LSI driver. It is recommended to only use drivers from the Dell website that have been validated by Dell engineering on your particular system.
These error messages do not impact performance. You will probably notice the errors only occur at startup and not during normal operation.
The driver update should be in validation testing soon and be released sometime next year.
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums!

FileName: PE1600SC-BIOSA09.EXE [616 KB]

Thanks for the thought, but I installed the latest Bios update (A09) on 11/26/03 and the startup errors continued to occur.

Hello
I have resovled this issue by downloading/installing Driver version 1.9.11.0 (dated 10/08/2003) from the LSI Logic support site. This driver is Windows Hardware Quality Laboratory (WHQL) tested and signed.
