T310 SAS Cable Problem

Dear Dell.

I am in trouble with SAS cable. Currently, PERC 6/i was installed and connected to SAS Backplane. When T310 started to boot, error was shown on LCD screen; E1A14 - SAS cable A failure. Check connection.

Hard disk is normal 3.5" SATA drive (Western Digital SATA II 500GB) at drive bay 0 (one HDD).

SAS cable is Mini SAS SFF-8087 male to SAS SFF-8484 female Cable

What is the problem on my T310?

 Best Regards

Dear YOONPOWER

The issue might be due to a faulty SAS cable or the slot A on the RAID controller card.

Have you try reseating the SAS cable and the RAID controller card? Please do so, if you haven't already.

Alternatively, you can reseat the SAS cable to slot B on the RAID controller card to test.

Let us know how it goes.

Dear Dell.

I checked SAS cable but there was no problem on it. However, PERC found hard drive and worked properly when SAS backplane cabe (I2C) was removed.

If backplane cable (I2C) was connected to mainboard, error code: E1A14 was shown on LCD screen. On other hands, T310 worked without any error code when I2C cable was diconnected.

Is Dell's SAS cable different from 3rd part's standard SAS cable? If so, could you tell me compatible SAS cable including other PowerEdge models with my T310?

Hi YOONPOWER

So the I2C cable that you are using is not from Dell?

The following are the part# for the I2C cables:-

J576M

CJ026

Hope this helps.
