We have a Dell R430 server with 4x1GB SATA drives operating in RAID 5 running on a PERC H330 Mini controller.

In the last week server started beeping and problem was identified by OMSA as a failed drive (0:2).

A replacement drive (identical model but later firmware FK5D rather than FK1D (on the original 3 drives), was installed and within a couple of hours drive had rebuilt and array is back to OPTIMAL state.

Just before the rebuild had completed (at 21:05, rebuild completed at 21:30) we have started getting 2095 "Unexpected sense" errors. These are from the replaced disk "Physical Disk 0:2".

Initially error was :-

"Unexpected sense. SCSI sense data: Sense key: 6 Sense code: 29 Sense qualifier: 0: Physical Disk 0:2 Controller 0, Connector 0" - Event ID 2095

Following this errors are now:

"Unexpected sense. SCSI sense data: Sense key: B Sense code: 47 Sense qualifier: 3: Physical Disk 0:2 Controller 0, Connector 0" - Event ID 2095

We have also had Event ID 2334 errors (essentially the same error reported by the controller)

Any suggestions on what is going on here? No sense errors recorded prior to disc being replaced.

Could problem be caused by firmware on new disk "FK5D" being newer that the other discs or firmware on the controller.

Any advice or suggestions welcomed.
