We have similar problem with PE6650, but SLES9. And on SuSE mailing lists I found message about two PE6650 with similar problem, but SLES8.

I think problem is in hardware. Few months ago in our server stops working integrated NICs and we replaced board with NICs, Video etc. with newer (!) model. Befor replace, with old board server works perfectly.

I do not have any 6550's but am quite curious how it is that such a situation can go on for "months" ....??
Did you build your own kernel for the 6550 or try a different RH kernel? I have been using MDK for a long time and there are probably six different MDK built kernels that can be used. I am sure RH must have others too since MDK is still a RH clone.
All the kernels from RH, MDK, SuSE, etc... are heavily modularized kernels made for generic applicability(get it running on as many systems as possible). and are _not_ the best solution for virtually anybody. They generally work but not nearly as good or as efficient as one built on and for the systems in use.
Linux is not like M$ windows with only one choice...
