Can't install windows 2012 on PER720xd
Dear All:
I can't install windows 2012 on R720 xd, because the lifecycle controller doesn't show windows 2012 on the list of OS deploy even i update it to ver 1.1.8.1. And i try to install windows 2012 directly, but it can't detect that is installation cd..... . I tested the cd which can boot on vmware successfully, how can i do?

Lo Su Hang,
Could you attempt to utilize OpenManage DVD for SBUU aided deployment of Win2012 x64 on R720 Xd.
Here is the download link for the bootable DVD. This same DVD would have been shipped along with the server.
1. Utilize the same to boot the server
2. Create your respect RAID on the server
3. complete the OS installation wizard
4. Post the Server Reboot, it prompts for OS DVD - provide the Win2012 Server x64 DVD (or virtual mount it)
5. Installation would be successful.
Let me know how it goes. Good luck

Dear Vivek S:
Thank for your reply, but i tried it before, it can't detect the boot cd too. I 'll try to win2008 installation cd for testing boot. if it doesn't work too, so that server may enter the lifecycle controller first =.=

Lo Su Hang,
Just wanted to get clarified.. Are you suggesting your Server R720 XD is unable to boot from OpenManage DVD (that came along with the server). If so can you retry using an external DVD ROM / Virtual Mount of the DVD. Also could you share the storage controller details of the server being used.
You can also attempt Windows 2008 installation with SBUU (OMDVD) aided deployment. That way it will help you install the supported device drivers automatically with the OS.

Good to hear you got that working. But you can quickly check up if in Server BIOS (F2) -> Integrated Devices -> Your CD/DVD ROM is enabled and all the USB ports are enabled to make sure the device is enabled for future use.
