DRAC + Disk problems or RAID/Array problems

Question

Hi,   We've got an dell powerconnect 2850 with a stripped linux version installed that's controls an machine park. Since no modifications can be done to this OS we would like to monitor this machine by using the DRAC card. Is it possible in any way to send alerts when there is a Disk failure or something goes wrong in the raid/array through the DRAC card??   greetz,   -jd-

The drac 4 can only send traps on baseboard events.  These include Temperature, voltage, fans, and miscellaneous events.  No storage.  For storage traps you will need to install Server Admin with the OMSM option.

Well since this is a production machine with an modified linux version on, no modifications can be done on the OS. So there's now way DRAC can report a bad disk ? :(

No. I can personally guarantee that the DRAC is not capable of sending any storage information at all.    Only information you'd see in the System section of Server Administrator is available via the DRAC.  You can monitor with SNMP and OMSA and use the DRAC for working in the BIOS.  If you were able to setup SNMP it could be arranged but the Redundancy degraded alerts from the DRAC are for power and fans only.
