ECC errors from DRAC while installing gentoo-amd64

im getting 3 ECC error emails from my DRAC card the last hour while im installing gentoo with the amd64 install cd. server is a poweredge 1850 with a dual xeon 2.8 cpu, and 2x512meg ECC ram.

can anyone here help me?

Hi Remco,


Why are you installing amd64 base when you are using intel processors? You have to use ia64 in the first place.

I installed it with the amd64 install cd, and then used nocona in my make.conf.
But the problem turned out to be a bad DIMM, and dell replaced it.

I figured it out too, -you were right to use amd64 kernel. Later in the makeconf you can choose the right architecture (EM64T), ia64 does not really apply because xeons are not true 64-bit architecure but rather a 32-bit extension.
