Installing Debian (and other Linux OS) on T620 No Disk Drive was detected
Hello I recently got one Poweredge T620 server and I am trying to install Debian OS but when it tries to detect the disk it says
No disk drive was derected. If you know the name of the driver needed by your disk drive, you can select it from the list... and it has a list with drivers to select from. the same happend when I tried to installaUbuntu and Suse. I also tried to install Suse by using the dell cd software that came with the server but it didnt eject the cd tray to insert the OS DVD. Can someone please help me with this installation ?

Hi Kostas,
Do you know which RAID controller you have installed? Typically the T620 is using the H710. If you didn’t create a virtual disk with the hard drives that could be a reason why it doesn’t see any. Page 41 ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/poweredge-rc-h710_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf
What version of Debian are you trying to install? Does it have the server on the HCL? Ubtuntu LTS 14.04 and Suse should have the needed drivers to install on this hardware.

I have experience on installing OS on various devices but its the first time I use a server and I didnt know that I have to create a virtual disk with the hard drives. Thank you for the tip, I will read the guide about the RAID controler and I will try again tomorow to install the OS. I am trying to install the last version of Debian 7.5 . Let me ask one more question, the H710 RAID controler that I have to install is like a software that I must Install or more like an option from BIOS ?
