Installing RAID w/o floppy drive
We are trying to install win 2k3 on our new poweredge 2850. We however can't load the perc driver so the setup can see the raid drive to install windows on. I tried using a usb key/floppy emulation, but setup says it doesn't recognize the volume of the usb key. So at this point, we're pretty stuck as to what to do next. Thanks!

I would do some more searching, but it's taking upwards of a few minutes to load a thread or run a search on this forum. Just about impossible to use. Can someone provide me with a link to any resources about using the usb key as a floppy to load the raid drivers off it? Maybe I have done something wrong.
Thanks!

Luke,
This is a limitation on Windows Setup, including the latest Windows Server 2003. It does not recognize USB keys. If you do not have a regular floppy drive, your only option is to use Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD. Boot your system using Server Assistant CD and from there it's GUI wizard and very straight-forward. It will not only provide W2K3 with the RAID controller driver but also let you configure those drives before the OS-installation starts.

Tariq,
The Open Manage Server Assistant does not recognize my retail Windows Server SBS 2003 cd. How can I install the RAID driver without a floppy? Can you at least give me the part number for the PowerEdge 2850 floppy kit? Will a USB floppy work?
