Linux Hang always

Hi,

Here are my Dell Server Configuration:

Model: PowerEdge 2600

CPU: Dual Xeon 2.4GHz HT

RAM: 2Gbytes

Linux: Redhat 8.0

NIC: Intel Pro 1000

Kernel: 2.4.18-14 smp

I found my system abnormally Halt often when I am using SMP kernel in whatever in HT enable or not.

I haven't found any error message in the Linux Log, any one can tell me what else of my server?

Thanks

CHOW

I'm having a similar problem with the fc1 2.4.22-1 kernels on a dual processor unit. In single processor mode it boots just fine, but with an smp kernel, it hangs when it tries to start the hard disks on boot.
looking foward to any help I can get.

I don't remember for sure anymore because we solved it a while ago, but I believe we ended up disabling USB in the bios and it solved lots of our problems with that particular instance. Since we went to the 1850 and 750's we haven't had that problem again.

We have a PowerEdge 2600 that is hanging once we use the GUI heavily for a few seconds (but seemingly fine in CLI mode).

It hangs with two CPUs, one CPU, redundant memory, non-redundant memory, 32 bit/16 bit color mode (but takes longer), etc. with Fedora Core 3.

I've had one of the CPUs replaced, two new main boards and two new sticks of RAM so far.

In my case, the LCD lights up orange after a few seconds with a proc error E07F0.
