Problem installing windows 2003 server 64 bit

Question

Hello all, Someone might have come accross with this problem. I have Dell Poweredge 2900 storage server. Which has 8 disk, when installing from server management I could not configure properly the Disk as I wanted. Howeve by pressing CTRL+R i can enter into the RAID setup and can configure the RAID. When configuring form CTRL+R and installing windows 2003 server 64bit - it goes all right but I cannot see the Harddisk. Options are press F6 to install thrid party driver, where I have no idea which files it is asking for. What i wanted to do is, Configure RAID 5 with all the Hard-DISK so i can have a large capacity. and install windows 2003 server 64bit. I just want to make one big disk and install windows 2003 server 64bit on this machine, can anyone help ? Thanks A

First you need to find out what RAID controller your using (perc4/Di, perc3, etc)   Then download the coresponding driver from here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen   Put the driver on a floppy, press F6 during the install, then press 'S' when prompted, select the correct RAID controller and load the driver from the floppy.   If you downloaded the correct driver and selected the correct RAID controller then the installation should see the disk just fine.

Thanks for your swift reply. The controller in this machine is perci4, will try that one and come back to you if problem resolved. Another point is - does windows 2003 storage server will support 3TB as a one single volume ?

Hi there, In fact my RAID Controller is PERC 5/i, downloaded driver from the dell web but it only provides windows 2003 server for 32 bit. there must be for Windows 2003 server 64bit Perc 5/i. 8x500GB SATA 3.5' Hard drivers (thats what specified in the paper with regard to Hard disk - provided by the dell) Can anyone help on this regard ? that would be simply great.
