Problem with COM Port

I'm running Novell 5.1 with SP4 on a Dell PowerEdge 2450.  I am trying to load up a APC UPS with the Powerchute software, but when I try to load up the commands I get errors.  Below is a copy of what I typed in and what I get  back.

                         SERVER:load aio
                         Loading module AIO.NLM
                           NetWare Asynchronous I/O Library
                           Version 7.00d   July 21, 2000
                           (c) Copyright 1992-2000 Novell, Inc.  All rights reserved.
                         SERVER:load aiocomx int=4 port=03f8 nofifo #com1
                         Loading module AIOCOMX.NLM
                           Novell AIO Serial Port Driver
                           Version 2.18    December 14, 2000
Copyright 1992-1998, Novell, Inc.  All rights reserved.
For AIOCOMX Driver Load Information, Enter 'LOAD AIOCOMX ?'
*Error* I/O port address 0x3F8 does not appear to be a valid asynchronous
hardware device.  If you know this address to be correct, you may
use the 'force' option to override the COM port existence tests.
                           SERVER-5.00-1553: Module initialization failed.
                           Module AIOCOMX.NLM NOT loaded
                         Module initialization failed

I set the serial ports from AUTO to COM1 and COM2 in the BIOS, but still get the same message.

Did you ever get the answer to this?  Identical problem I'm having here.

I finally found my answer. I was able to determine that I needed to upgrade to a newer Service Pack.  The NLM's in SP4 wouldn't work right.  If you move to SP5 it should work, I haven't done it myself though.  The network team didnt want to upgrade to the next service pack because they were worried it might cause other problems that they aren't ready to deal with yet.     Good luck, tell me how it turns out.

Actually (sadly) I'm already at NW5.1-SP5 on the server that cannot see the serial ports.  I think it's some kind of port anomaly on the PowerEdge 2550 and 2650 since even in the Netware Management Portal under IRQ's, I cannot see the COM port (although I can see IRQ4 used by AIOCOMX on my older PowerEdge 2300 servers in NW5.1-SP5).

Guess my next direction is looking in the CMOS setup to try things like "Plug-n-Play Operating System" or manually reserving the IRQ 4 resource so maybe Netware can see it.  Because I cannot see any vestige of the hardware in the Management portal, I figure Netware just is not seeing the hardware so AIOCOMX cannot be expected to use it.  Maybe Portal won't show anything at the IRQ4 until AIOCOMX loads to try to use it.  I wonder if there's a lower-level Dell motherboard driver I need.  Dell was no help and my Netware support company could not help me...

Thanks so much for responding - I appreciate it.
