RedHat AS 3 Installation question

DELL-JamesC states that:

I would not recommend using the Server Assistant for Linux installs for 2 reasons.  You have no package options.  You are getting an 'everything' install, X Windows, everything.  The second reason is that you have no control over mount points and partitions.  DOSA will create a primary partition for /boot, and extended partition with the rest of the space on SDA, then logical drives for /swap and /.  Then everything else, /var, /user, /home, ect...all that goes under /.

So, not performing an installation using DOSA, that is performing a manual installation, what i've to do to install the update packages installed by the DOSA?

Were i can find docs that explain to me "how-to"?
