powerpath 5.1 and redhat 4 u7

has anyone had issues with powerpath and redhat 4 u7 (the most recent version of the updates)? I have a system, I updated the kernel, reinstalled powerpath 5.0.0-157 and the system hangs on restart at the point where it's mounting/checking local volumes. local volumes are in LVM. this is on 2.6.9-78. upgraded to 5.1.0-194 but getting the same results. works ok on 2.6.9-67... so it seems like a kernel issue...
thanks

I believe you will need to install PowerPath 5.1SP2 to support RHEL4u7... available from PowerLink for download.

absolutely. SP2 for the 5.1.0-194 version seems to have worked well. then new kernel works and boots up just fine... and for future reference, SP1 is NOT required when installing SP2.

I have qlogic cards. qla2400 driver.

[user@servername ># powermt display
Symmetrix logical device count=0
CLARiiON logical device count=5
Hitachi logical device count=0
Invista logical device count=0
HP xp logical device count=0
Ess logical device count=0
HP HSx logical device count=0

### HW Path Summary Total Dead IO/Sec Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
0 qla2xxx optimal 10 0 - 0 0
1 qla2xxx optimal 10 0 - 0 0

but this is in the 2.6.9-67 kernel. I have downloaded the sp1 & 2 for the 5.1.0-194 powerpath version and will install when I can steal the server from the DBAs who use it for development.
