Hello I just end to install a Powerpath 5.1.2 in a
RHEL 5.2 (2.6.18-92.el5PAE) and after booting the
server:
- I have to start manually the PPath service

write starting command in "/etc/rc.local"
/etc/init.d/PowerPath stop
/etc/init.d/PowerPath start
- I can not see the pseudo device

type
powermt config
powermt display dev=all
reboot
then try
powermt display dev=all
- I can see th "sd" devices

sure you will , and you have to see native devices
if you dont see the "/dev/sd*" devices then there are something wrong

Welcome Omar to EMC Support Forums
enjoy :)

Thks for your response....Ihave try that before but I still con not see the emcpower devices....I am doin this installation in a IBM BladeCenter p/n 8852 & Blades HS21 + IBM QLogic 4Gb Intelligent Passthrough Module + HBA 26R0890 + CX3-20c ( 3.24.020.011) + FC switch Brocade 5000..... everything is certify in the interoperability matriz. The common problem is that I am having almos the same problem in the Windows 2003 environment....! The stand alone server (not the blades) are working fine!!

can you cd to /proc/scsi/lpfc or qlaxx/ where (lpfc corresponds to Emulex HBA and qla corresponds to Qlogic). Once there type ls -la and you see a least two entries (if you have two HBAs). Sometimes you will see 0, 1 , 2 or 3. Cat that 0 or whatever the instance is. If your zoning is configured correctly you will see WWN of the Clariion port you are zoned too. This process will ensure you got zoning setup correctly and the system can see the ports ..at least.

he said that he can see the sd devices so lets assume that the zoning is configured correctly

Hi....thks for your replay!!!
The Blade server are loggin and registered in the Clariion box.....
The problem starts when I install PowerPath in the windows blade server or linux server......As I wrote before I sure can see de linux device or luns in windows before I install PowerPath. But after I finish instlling PowerPath and after rebooting the server, I can still see de native device in Linux but the emc pseudo devices are not shown...it does not show any device when I run powermt config & then powermt display dev=all. And in the windows blade server it doent show any more de luns. I am conecting the IBM Balde servers through a Intelligent Passthrough Module using just one (Gbic) port and the switches are Brocade 5000.....

I would advise opening a case with the support center, they will be able to confirm that the environment is supported and able to begin troubleshooting this issue with the assistance of the EMC Grab file.

Hi,

Think I have the same problem. Two servers, both RHEL 5.2, PP 5.1 SP2. One server creates the powerpath devices /dev/emcpowern, the other (identical server spec) doesn't - although Linux does create the /dev/sd files - as confirmed by checking with Navisphere.
