Can't restore from RD1000 disk due to wrong media name

We're using a Dell RD1000 backup drive under Windows 7 Pro with the native Windows 7 Backup and Restore (B&R) app. We have three 320 GB removable disks that are periodically rotated.

We attempted a restore of a single file to test backup integrity using two of our three disks. We could navigate either disk's contents and select the files to restore. However, the restore could not start because the media in the drive did not have the same name as that used for the backup. I've restored files before from this drive, but I have never encountered media names in the process. The name that was requested included the date of the latest backup set. The media name shown in Windows Explorer does not match that demanded by B&R and uses a much older date.

Is there any way to alter the name of the RD1000 disk in Windows? If not, is there any way to convince B&R that the disk in the drive should be used to restore files?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We're retiring the RD1000, but would like to be able to retrieve files from the backup history, which goes back several years.
