Compression on 110T DLT VS80 ????
I am trying to backup 55GB of data to our 110T DLT VS80 tape which support 40/80GB. I am unable to backup everything onto one tape (it wants to backup to 2 tapes). I have try to setup via the Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 for software compression and also for hardware compression. After searching and reading the forums, there are no clear cut solution to this issue (I have spent 2.5 hours with Dell tech and still have not solve it).
Please advised on how to manually setup the software and hardware for a 2:1 compression.
System:
Dell 2600 PowerEdge 3.01G
Windows 2003 Server
Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 (doing a full backup on each and every tape)
Tape device: 110T DLT VS80
Tape: DLT IV from dell
Thanks in advance.

HBanh,
Unfortunately you may not be able to make the system back up at a 2:1 ratio. Some files can not be compressed to that level. Bob D explained it very well in this thread:

Hope this helps,
