CX300 with Clone: MSCS 2 nodes DAS. Need Help!

CX300 with SnapClone features 2 Node Cluster (MSCS)/ Oracle 10g Application

Dell EMC CX300: ST# 9732C1S

           **SnapView with SnapClone

Dell PE2850 svr: ST# 3D42C1S/ 4 D42C1S

**Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Microsoft Cluster Service enabled.

Application:

ORACLE 10g

Dell CX Support;

In the event of SourceLUN database becomes “CORRUPTED” thus CloneLUN can take place as database operational LUN for client I/O. (---- CORRUPTED means clients can no longer access the database). If the above statement is possible, thus it AFFECT Microsoft Cluster Service as far as Source LUN is concern as one of CLUSTER RESOURCES.

Is there any workaround/ isolation that we can do to point all client I/O to Clone LUN in case the Source LUN that holds the database becomes CORRUPTED? Any third party SW can do this? Thus CX500 with MIRRORVIEW SW can do? Any script can be launch that can directly point all the client I/O to clone LUN?

Thus the SnapView with SnapClone limits its functionality in Synchronization and Reverse Synchronization? And beyond this limitation is already not recommended as SOLUTION.

What our client wants is to AUTOMATICALLY use the Clone LUN in the event of database in Source LUN becomes CORRUPTED with ZERO DOWNTIME in operation! is this POSSIBLE?

Please advice.

Many thanks.

Pinoi.

Automatic use of a clone / mirror is not possible on the CX arrays.  Manual intervention would be required in order to promote or reverse sync the clone.
EMC Symmetric arrays have the capability to have the BCV assume operation of a source lun in the case the source lun becomes unavailable.  If your client requires this kind of capability, then the CX array may not be the best fit for you.
