Dell PowerVault MD3600F Serial Cable?
Hi,
I need to reset my Powervault MD3600F and when changing the IP address there was an error (I didn't record the error itself) and I lost connection to the Powervault. I can't connect to the device using Disk manager and looked online on how to reset the IP address and found that this can be done using the Serial Cable and Putty. Problem is, I don't have the serial cable, or the serial port on the back of the RAID Controller.
I looked for some Documentation online based on the RAID Controllers (2 x Dell 16G-FC-4) and they have a Mini USB Port which they record as a 'Reserved Port'. At the end of the Documentation you find that the Serial Connector (debug port) is the Mini USB port. Since I don't have the Serial Cable I looked online for a Mini USB to Serial cable, but couldn't find one online - all other posts/forums mention that a serial cable is always provided when these are ordered.
Long story short, where can I get the necessary cable to connect to the serial port in the back of my RAID Controllers and reset the IP address?
Thanks!

Hello Len15,
Here is the Dell part#MN657 for a replacement password reset/ serial cable. You can find the cable sold by many 3rd party companies by doing a search with the Dell part#.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Sam,
Unfortunately that cable won't connect with my controllers, what looks to be there serial port uses Mini USB instead of Serial. Below is an image from the user guide, this is what the back of my controllers look like so I can't use the standard serial cable.
Thanks!
