Disconnect SAS cables while the server is powered on
It might sound like a stupid question but can SAS cables be disconnected/removed between a MD3260 and a R720 while the server is powered on? I already removed all the accesses between the MD and the server (no more mounts, multipath devices removed, linux devices removed, MD LUNs deleted, MD host mappings deleted, etc). The MD is not used anymore and can be shutdown at any time but the server cannot be shutdown. So I guess it would be safe to disconnect the cables but I don't want to get any surprises while doing it (like some kernel panic or any other malfunction).

Hello casfr,
As tapelibraryfixer stated you can disconnect the cables from your server to your MD3260 since you have removed all virtual disk, Disk groups, & host mappings.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
