DLT1 errors?

Since the motherboard failed in the PE2500 I have been seeing messages like the following every time the tape is accessed (:

This series was when I started the machine (they are all System, Warning, AFAMGT, ID 4097).

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); Error Event [command:0x1e]

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); Unit Attention [k:0x6,c:0x28,q:0x0]

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); Not Ready To Ready Transition, Medium M

\Device\AFA0 : ay Have Changed

\Device\AFA0 : Previous event spanned multiple lines

This series was when I ran an inventory (from BE8.6)(they are all System, Warning, AFAMGT, ID 4097).

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); Error Event [command:0x8]

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); No Sense [k:0x0,c:0x0,q:0x0]

\Device\AFA0 : ID(1:06:0); No Additional Sense Information

There are very many series of errors like this.  The problem we are having is that the server becomes non-responsive every night.  It responds to pings, but the console is frozen at a blank desktop.  I think it is the tape/scsi.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I believe the problem here is when the motherboard was replaced the Perc 3/di / Adaptec AIC-7899 was configured incorrectly. Look in the System BIOS > Integrated Devices Screen > Embedded SCSI Controller and set Channel A to Raid and Channel B to Scsi. I believe they are both set to Raid now.

This is assuming the tape drive is connected to the motherboard and not to a PCI card.

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums!

That was it!

It took the phone support guy two hours to think of that - he told me those errors were normal with firmware 2.7!

Thanks for your help!
