Door Jammed Shut

Hi

I have a Poweredge 1400SC server in our workplace, and whilst I was away on sick leave, someone tried to use the backup drive and has mucked it up.

The drive door is now jammed into the roof of the drive.

Windows Server 2k insists the drive is still working correctly, but I cannot insert any tapes or run backup.

Although our office is closing in a few months and so it will be irrelevant whether the hardware works or not, I am loathe to go so long without backing up our company data. I.e. there is no chance of buying a new drive replacement for so short a time.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, Kelly

What tape technology is it? DLT, DAT, LTO....

The door is connected to the front bezel of the tape drives, you may need to remove the bezel in order to free up the door. Depending on what type of drive it is the bezel will be connected with small screws or plastic tabs that inset into the side.
