I have a similar issue. I have a PV755N. It is runnig firmware v2.5. I need to upgrade to v2.7, but when I try to run it, it says it cannot upgrade because the firmware needs to be v2.6 first. Well, I haven't been able to find v2.6 for the 755N. Seems like plenty of versions for the other PowerVaults though. Are they interchangeable? I have the Perc3/di.
Also, I was told to get BIOS A12 for my powervault by a Dell tech support person to correct an error with a network card, yet when I go to downloads, the latest version for the PV755N is A07. Was the technician in error? Referring to a different motherboard?
Any help would be appreciated as I've hit a wall, and Dell will not send a new motherboard (the NICs are integrated) until I've tried this.
The message you gave came from the new Dell Update Package application. This is a more streamlined method of upgrading the various firmwares on the system. However, for the Dell Update Package to work, there are minimum version requirements.
The links I provided are for the "old-fashioned" floppy based installation method, which does not require v2.6 to be installed first. Just a reminder, update the driver first.
The prerequisite software version for this update was not found: Software Name: PERC3/Di Firmware Current version: 2.5.0.2991 Required version: 2.6 The version of this update package is newer than the currently installed version. Software application name: Dell PERC 3/Di RAID Controller Firmware Package version: 2.7.1.3571 Installed version: 2.5.0.2991
=========================> Verification Result <=========================
Note: I have not heard of the requirement of going to 2.6.0 to upgrade from 2.5 to 2.7.1. Just in case, I will include the link for the latest firmware and the latest driver (always update the driver first)
I'm trying to upgrade the RAID firmware to A09, but it requires A07. A07 is no where to be found. How does one go about getting A07?

Mark,
Thanks for the fast response, those links were very helpful. Knowing that the PE2550 and PV755N have equivalent hardware is very useful to know.
Regarding upgrading the firmware though: mine is currently 2.5. When I try to upgrade to v2.7, here is the output log, hopefully this will help:
