MD1000 foreign physical disk after importing foreign configuration

MD1000 attached to R510 and PERC6 6/E had an alarm beeping with disk 5 flashing amber but no indication of trouble in OMSA. Shut down the server then storage and powered on in reverse order. Booted to OS and the virtual disks were missing so performed the power cycle again and noticed a foreign configuration in POST message. Entered the RAID controller to import the foreign config which also kicked off initialization, booted to OS and virtual disks appear to be healthy except disk 5 still shows to be foreign in physical disks and an orphan drive in foreign configuration preview. Not sure if this virtual disk was configured with a hot spare but it must have been if healthy now. No change after initialization completed. Should I clear the foreign configuration to make disk 5 usable again, or import/recover the foreign config, or just replace the disk?

Hello cmc_ryan,

You will want to clear the configuration on disk 5 and see if it goes healthy & online.  You can look into the perc bios and check VD management & see if that drive was assigned to any virtual disk.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
