You don't need to delete it before the install - you can delete it and/or convert it directly to GPT in Windows once installed.

ok,

is there a way to set the disk in the md1200 to GPT to get back the 185gb

There are only two "disks" ... disk 0 is your MD, but because the disk is MBR (not GPT), the space above 2TB is the second "disk 0" listing. Disk 1 is your 2x146GB RAID 1.

Easiest thing to do (assuming you don't care about any existing data on the drives) is to delete the existing partition (1) on DISK 0, then select DISK 1 to install your OS.    Then once the OS is installed, use the Computer Management console to setup DISK 0 as the data drive.  At that point you'd setup the disk as the GPT style which will allow you to make a volume larger than 2TB.

You can delete the partition right from the screen you're selecting where to do the installation from, just hit 'Drive options (advanced)' at the bottom right, then the Delete option will appear.
