MD3000i in reset state (probably)
Hello,
we add one HD ST1000NM0045 (labeled Dell) to expand a VirtualDisk on our md3000i. A few seconds after the disk is inserted (warm), the md3000i goes offline, the steady orange led means "reset state".
Even with cold insert, same result. No led blinks on the disk.
First thing I thought it was a compatibility problem, but cannot find the HD Support matrix anymore. Purchasing manager told me he bought those disk from Dell, stressing they are for an md3000i.
Thank you.
Roberto

Hello Roberto,
So when the drive is not on the support matrix then in most cases it will not work. The Part# that you provided is for a 12gb 1TB SAS. The MD3000i only supports 3gb 1TB SAS. Here are the Part# for some 1TB 3GB SAS Drives for your MD3000i: 8CGTN, CP464, G377T
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Roberto,
Here is the link to the support matrix for you MD3000i. http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-md3000i_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf
Now I have checked and the drive part# that you listed is not part of the matrix as a compatible drive. What is the Dell part# that is listed on the drive?
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Sorry for the delay.
Dell Part# is 1V420C-150.
What should we do? We bought another HDD two years ago (model number listed in the compatibility matrix) that never worked because of a firmware problem. It wasn't from Dell, so this time we bought from Dell a couple of these HDD. Same result (worse, in fact: the md3000i freezes).
We just want to put some working disks into our md3000i, looks a very troubled mission.

Don't want to insist too much, but the "not listed" is the last answer? So I bought two HDDs from Dell with no way to use them in our NAS?
Moreover, how do I buy disks that can be used, if buying them from Dell is not enough?
